Transforming an ordinary terrace into a multifunctional lifestyle space
A well-designed terrace can become much more than an open space. With the right combination of roofing, modern interiors and thoughtful landscaping, even an unused terrace can be transformed into a comfortable retreat for entertainment, relaxation and family bonding.
For our client at HSR Layout, terrace makeover project the vision was to create two distinct spaces within the same terrace. One section was designed as a home theatre-style setup for enjoying movies and spending quality time with family, while the other was planned as a peaceful relaxation corner featuring a swing, a Buddha-inspired CNC metal design, artificial grass, decorative pebbles and lush greenery.

Site visit and planning
Initially, a site visit was planned following a consultation call. As an existing customer who trusted our workmanship, the client contacted us again and explained the project requirements. Based on the discussion, our CEO, Mr. Shivaraj, personally visited the site to understand the requirements and take accurate measurements. A 3D design was then prepared and shared with the client to help them visualize the expected outcome and identify any changes required based on further discussions.

For the home theatre setup, puff sheets were installed for the roofing, with PVC ceiling installed underneath to create a neat false ceiling. On the wall designated for the projector, a supporting structure was provided using 30 mm Puff panels, finished with WPC Louvers to enhance the overall aesthetics of the theatre. The remaining three sides were fitted with white-profile UPVC doors and windows, giving the space a clean, modern and elegant appearance.

To complete the enclosure, the remaining three sides were fitted with white-profile UPVC doors and windows. Their clean finish complemented the darker projector wall, creating a modern and elegant interior appearance.
The puff sheet pergola was designed to serve two purposes in one integrated structure: to accommodate solar panel installation on the roof while creating a functional amphitheatre-style space underneath, maximizing the utility of the area. The combination of 50 mm puff sheet roofing (Alpha brand), PVC ceiling, black WPC Louvers and white-profile UPVC doors and windows brought together functional roofing and a coordinated interior design.
On the other section of the terrace, a 10 mm toughened glass (St. Gobain) roofing system with a glass with CNC pergola-designed metal pergola was executed. One side of the pergola features designer CNC patterns incorporating Buddha and tree motifs, complemented by artificial grass installed over drainage cells. The landscaping includes potted plants, with flowering plants such as Heliconia and foliage plants like Philodendron Congo and Xanadu selected to enhance the greenery and visual appeal. At the entrance of amphitheatre different coloured, unpolished pebbles were laid along with round stepping stones creating an attractive and aesthetically pleasing pathway.
