Creating a comfortable workspace at home does not always require constructing an entirely new room. With the right planning, structural design, and materials, an unused outdoor space can be transformed into a functional and visually appealing work-from-home or study area.
At Misty Garden Weldscape, we recently worked on a terrace transformation project at Ranka Countryside, where the client wanted to create a dedicated study and work-from-home space while still maintaining a clear connection with the surrounding landscape.
Initially a site visit done by our CEO Mr. Shivaraj understood the client requirement and suggested the plans accordingly and took the measurements. A estimate has been shared to the client after creating a group a 3d design also shared so that client for better understanding of the outcome of the project.
The project began when the client, Shaunak, contacted Misty Garden Weldscape through Instagram with a specific requirement: a closed pergola structure with Tinted toughened glass roofing and UPVC doors and windows.
The objective was to create a room-like structure that could comfortably be used as a study room or work-from-home space, while retaining transparency and allowing the client to enjoy views of the surrounding outdoor environment.
The key requirements included:
The initial site visit conducted by our CEO, Mr. Shivaraj. During the visit, he discussed the client’s requirements, understood how the space would be used and assessed the existing site conditions.
The required measurements were taken, and the structural possibilities were discussed with the client. Based on the site dimensions and the intended use of the space, a suitable plan was proposed.
Following the initial consultation, an estimate was prepared and shared with the client. To make the proposed design easier to understand, our team also created and shared a 3D design. The 3D visualization helped the client understand the proposed structure, proportions, roofing arrangement, doors, windows and overall appearance before the actual execution began.
his approach allowed the client to visualize the final outcome and make informed decisions about the design and finishes.
Before beginning the installation, our Master Fabricator, Mr. Sulthan conducted a detailed site assessment. The purpose of this visit was to determine the most suitable locations for the structural pillars and understand the existing site conditions before fabrication and installation began.
Once the structural requirements were finalized, the procurement of materials was initiated.
The required materials were brought to the site and unloaded, following which the initial metal preparation work began. A coat of yellow oxide primer was applied to the metal components as part of the preparation process before further fabrication and finishing.
The next stage involved installing the metal pillars and carrying out the structural framing work. The fabrication team carefully executed the metal framework according to the approved design and site measurements. Grinding and finishing work was carried out to ensure that the fabricated sections were properly prepared before painting. Once the fabrication and grinding work was completed, the metal frames were painted in the colour selected by the client
The 10 mm toughened glass was then installed over the metal framework to create the roof of the enclosed pergola. Special attention was given to the joints and edges during installation. Silicone sealing and masking techniques were used around the required areas to help minimize the possibility of water seepage and leakage during rainfall.
The tinted glass provided the desired balance between natural light, outdoor visibility, and a more enclosed indoor feel, making the space suitable for working or studying without completely disconnecting it from the surrounding environment.
The next stage was the installation of the UPVC doors and windows. After taking the final site measurements, the UPVC components were fabricated according to the required dimensions and installed within the completed metal framework.
The UPVC doors and windows helped transform the pergola into a more enclosed, room-like space while maintaining transparency towards the outdoors.
If you are planning to transform your terrace, balcony, garden or other unused outdoor space into a study room, home office, enclosed pergola or work-from-home setup, professional planning can make a significant difference.
At Misty Garden Weldscape, we provide end-to-end solutions including site assessment, structural planning, 3D visualization, metal fabrication, glass roofing, UPVC doors and windows, and installation.
